NeuroMovement®

Neuromovement is a transformative approach that leverages the brain's remarkable ability to change itself—known as neuroplasticity—to enhance physical movement and overall wellbeing. This innovative method is rooted in the understanding that movement and cognition are closely intertwined, and that by improving how we move, we can also enhance how we think and feel.

What is Neuromovement®?

Humans are built to move. Babies, and children move all the time. It is how we learn who we are, where we are in space, and how we can influence the world around them. Movement is a function of the brain; it helps us perceive differences, which are what feeds any learning.

In some cases, children have challenges that prevent them from moving freely and with refinement.  This feeds into, and is fundamental to all limitations, whether the issue is genetic (like in Down Syndrome of Fragile X), or autism, ADHD, or cerebral palsy.  Adults too have similar challenges: stroke survivors, accident victims, trauma survivors are all affected by similar dysfunctions in the brain.

Using movement, the brain (any brain!) can change, learn and grow.  Neuromovement is a way to leverage the nervous system's innate ability to learn, whatever the starting point is.

Who can benefit from Neuromovement®?

Individuals with Movement Disorders: Neuromovement offers hope to those with movement limitations due to conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, and multiple sclerosis. By engaging the brain in new ways, it helps to create new neural pathways, leading to improved mobility and coordination.

Children with Developmental Challenges: Children facing developmental delays or sensory integration issues can benefit immensely from neuromovement. The method helps in cultivating motor skills, enhancing learning abilities, and supporting emotional and social development.

Elderly Individuals: As we age, maintaining mobility and balance is crucial for independence and quality of life. Neuromovement exercises are designed to increase flexibility, balance, and strength in older adults, reducing the risk of falls and improving the ease of daily activities.

Individuals Experiencing Chronic Pain: Neuromovement offers a non-pharmaceutical approach to managing and alleviating chronic pain. By teaching different ways of moving and perceiving the body, it can help reduce pain levels and improve function in daily tasks.

People Suffering from Stress and Anxiety: The method also serves as a powerful tool for those dealing with anxiety and stress. It promotes relaxation, enhances body awareness, and fosters a state of calmness by focusing on gentle, mindful movements that engage both mind and body.
